We all know that there are foods that get the blood pumping to get you in the mood.
Oysters and chocolate are among the foods known globally for their aphrodisiac properties.
In the Caribbean there are also popular herbs, seeds and plants rumoured to work just as well or even better.
Here are five aphrodisiacs you may want to try next time you need a little boost. We can’t personally vouch for any of them but if you do get results, let us know.
Mama Juana: A popular item in the Dominican Republic, Mama Juana is a concoction made with rum,red wine, andhoney-soaked in a bottle withtree barkandherbs. Mama Juana was popularised as a local herbal medicine and aphrodisiac in the 1950s by Jesus Rodriguez, a native of San Juan De La Maguana and used by notorious playboy Porfirio Rubirosa,
Bois Bande: The name in French means “Erection Wood” and this bark is known all over the Caribbean for its “raising” powers. Called the natural Viagra, Bois Bande can be found in rums and even ice cream.
Mannish water: Popular in islands such as Grenada and Jamaica, Mannish Water is said to be great for giving men some extra strength in their back. It is a hearty soup made with goat, yam and potato, flour dumplings, green bananas and other vegetables.
Linseed: Often available in punches, Linseed or Flax seeds are a rich source of omega 3 fatty acids helps to promote a healthy sex drive.
Seamoss:Irish moss is considered ideal for increasing libido and energy. It is often mixed in a drink with linseed and other ingredients.
