Was there ever a Gremlins 3? ›

Gremlins 3: Curse of the Mogwai is a sequel of Gremlins (1984). It is written by Chris Columbus and Carl Ellsworth, and counts on Steven Spielberg as its executive producer. It is scheduled for release in December 2023.

In the first two films, it was initially unclear if gremlins had a concept of gender. Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai revealed that they do in fact possess genders. Gremlins: Gizmo had at least two female Mogwai: Valerie and Grace. However, they were non-canon to the franchise.

Stripe, later reincarnated as Mohawk, is the main antagonist of the Gremlins franchise. He is the leader of the original batch of Gremlins who wrecked havoc in Kingston Falls and was later reincarnated as a Gremlin called Mohawk as one of the four "New Batch" members in the Clamp Cable Network of New York.

Like the first film, Gremlins 2: The New Batch is a live-action horror comedy film; however, Dante put effort into taking the sequel in new anarchistic directions.
